Over the weekend, I finally made it to Beachside Social with my friend for her birthday! Another Instagram discovery, I’ve been trying to go for a few months now! It’s definitely a fun group activity.
It’s a little tricky to get into since it’s actually on the second floor of a building. There’s a little sign on Atlantic Avenue and a lobby – where the pink neon sign is – which leads upstairs to the courts and bar.
When we got there, we had to wait about an hour and a half for a court to open up. This time was so easy to kill because you can order all kinds of snacks, flatbreads, sandwiches + beautiful drinks. I am a huge fan of the Bahama Mama (Brugal Anejo Rum, Malibu, Banana Liqueur, Grenadine, Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice)! You can see mine in the bottom right of the picture below. As for snacking, we made several orders of Pretzel Bites, Cheesey Waffle Fries, and Chicken Tenders. When you order, you are given a number + they bring the food to you. We liked all the snacks + the drinks were even better.
We had a group of about 15 people so we had our two teams, and then rotated who got to slide the “biscuits.” So as it turns out, the puck in shuffleboard is called a biscuit. We thought that they had fun biscuits + biscuit sandwiches. Haha oops!!!
So shuffleboarding is kind of hard – but still so fun! You get a slider + 4 biscuits. By standing behind the -10 point boxes, you have to slide the biscuit across to the triangle on the other side, while trying to keep the biscuit on your side of the court (right/left). Wherever your biscuit lands is the amount of points you get – but, the entire biscuit has to be in the number. If it’s on a line, the points don’t count. You can also hit someone else’s biscuit out of the way so they loose points! We were all pretty much all over the court with our skills.
It was $30 per hour on the court and you do have the option to extend your time. So if you are planning to, I think especially on the weekend or probably any time during tourist season, I would plan to have about an hour + a half wait! Like I said, the wait was not bad at all because of the board games, connect4, snacks + drinks, and fund with friends to entertain you while you wait!
If you have been to Beachside Social, I want to hear about your experience in the comments section!
